Postcard from Hawaii: Edgar Bennett

The Packers' coaching staff is leading the NFC squad in the Pro Bowl in Honolulu this week. Green Bay's staff coached the NFC team to a 42-30 victory over the AFC four years ago.

One of the coaches making a return trip to Hawaii is Packers wide receivers coach Edgar Bennett. On Thursday, packers.com caught up with Bennett, and he sends this "postcard" from Hawaii.

The whole family is out here – me, my wife Mindy, and our kids Edgar and Elyse – and we're really enjoying some good, quality family time. We'd rather be enjoying another Super Bowl experience like last year, of course, but after this past season, when you think about all the hours that go into it and the fast pace of it all, to take a step back and spend time with your family is really special.

We've gone snorkeling and had a chance to see all the different tropical fish. They really are colorful and it's truly amazing. While the team was at practice today, my family took a trip to hike and climb around Diamond Head and had a good time with that, too.

For our coaching staff, one big difference this time compared to four years ago is Joe Philbin isn't here. We understand the opportunity he has now and we're excited for him, but I always learned a lot from Joe and his presence is missed. We wish he were here, but Joe will always be a part of us. That goes without being said.

For me, I'm coaching the wide receivers this time instead of the running backs, and my group – Greg Jennings, Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Smith and Roddy White – wow, to sum it up in one word. They're obviously very, very talented, and they're true professionals. Our game plan is pretty simple, but on Sunday we're just going to let those guys go out and do what they do best. It's fun to be around them, hearing them tell stories about their careers.

That's one of the best things about being around the top players in the game, hearing them share their experiences and enjoying that camaraderie. You get an opportunity to visit with guys you know on a personal level, guys that play on our team as well as guys you've met at the combine or over the years through competition. It makes this trip a lot of fun.
