GREEN BAY – The Packers added to their defensive backfield with the first of two seventh-round draft picks on Saturday.
Safety Vernon Scott (6-2, 206) from Texas Christian University was chosen by Green Bay with the 236th overall pick.
Scott, a Texas native, became a full-time starter for the first time this past season, starting 10 games and ranking fourth on his team with 44 tackles. He broke up seven passes and had a 98-yard interception return for a touchdown against Oklahoma.
The year before, in just his second collegiate start in the Cheez-It Bowl, Scott got his first career interception.
Scott's selection marks the second straight year the Packers have drafted a TCU defender in the seventh round. In 2019, Green Bay chose linebacker Ty Summers at No. 226 overall.
