GREEN BAY – Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari and receiver Davante Adams have been given the 2017 Tom Mulhern Stand-Up Guy Award by the Green Bay chapter of the Professional Football Writers of America.
The annual award is presented to the Packers player(s) voted to have best helped reporters covering the team to do their jobs effectively.
A fifth-year veteran out of Colorado, Bakhtiari has started all 73 regular-season games he's played in Green Bay. He was voted to his first Pro Bowl and All-Pro teams in 2016, and was again chosen as a Pro Bowl alternate this season.
"It's nice. I think the biggest thing I'm proud about is my mom is going to be really happy," Bakhtiari said. "It just comes down to respect. It doesn't matter at the end of the day the relationship between media and players, and whether there's any rift at any point. We're people. It's good to act respectful."
Adams, a fourth-year receiver out of Fresno State, leads the Packers with 74 receptions, 885 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. His 22 touchdowns over the past two seasons are the most in the NFL during that span.
The Stand-Up Guy Award is named after the late Tom Mulhern, a former Packers and Wisconsin Badgers beat writer for the Wisconsin State Journal and Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel who passed away in October 2014.
