Wait...Titletown is hosting a soccer watch party? Somewhere Vic is tossing his flip-flop off the pier...
And how.

You guys amaze me with your knowledge. When answering our questions how often do you know the answer off the top of your head and how often do you have to research it? How much time will you spend on one question to get the answer? What's your go-to source?
Sorry, Sue. No holiday for Rule No. 1.

You guys talk a lot of baseball in the offseason. Are you aware that some of us only care about the football team? If I want to hear about snoozeball, I will go to mlb.com or some other website. Maybe you could incorporate a little more Packers talk into your baseball chats.
Friday's column was 1,940 total words, with 240 of them devoted to some baseball chatter. Sorry for the math, but that's roughly 88% (shame on me, though I didn't plan it) of the column not about baseball. If that's still bothersome, you can request a refund.

At Real Madrid's home games, whenever the opposing team has the ball every fan in the stands whistles. It is quite annoying to play in. We could be pioneers in creating an intense atmosphere in Lambeau where teams hate to play. I think we haven't done enough to help the team. How do we make improvements?
I wouldn't start with whistling, but if we're stealing soccer ideas, maybe a vuvuzela giveaway is worth a shot. Or not.

Devonte Wyatt being the oldest Packer draft pick at only 28 years old is wild to me. That puts the youngest team in the league the past two years into a better perspective for me. Draft, develop, replace with younger and cheaper is the real mantra for success.
It's required to a certain extent to maintain contender status for any extended period, because you can't pay everyone.

After listening to Thursday's episode of "Packers Unscripted," for some reason it left me with a suspicion that BG may not be done adding bodies (veteran depth, similar to Tyrod Taylor) to shore up the offensive tackle position. Nothing against the talent there, but it is nice to know there's a proven commodity there in the event of injuries. Not to open old wounds (ex: Bakhtiari in 2020) but our right tackle's complex knee injury concerns me some.
Gutey traded a future draft pick for Darian Kinnard at the end of training camp last year. Personnel assessment is ongoing and never-ending.

With all of the discussion about signing up for Netflix for one month in November to get two Packer games, this is exactly why Netflix and other streaming services bid for televising NFL games. They are banking on (pun intended) those one-month customers testing out other shows during that month and becoming regular consumers of their service.
Indubitably.
Student-athletes and coaches from Weyauwega-Fremont High School were surprised by Packers offensive lineman Darian Kinnard, who unveiled brand-new helmets the team will be receiving for their upcoming football season, presented in partnership with Certor Sports and Ticketmaster.

With respect, I think Wes and a lot of fans are missing the mark with the NFL's thirst for games on almost every day of the week. Fantasy football. The NFL and fantasy football work together and feed each other billions, especially considering DFS "legal gambling." Casual fans may not tune into a Tuesday game, but the average fantasy football player probably has two or three teams. That means odds are any game on any day will feature a player on your team, or your opponents'. All eyes on the NFL.
Anthony from Southington, CT, shared almost identical thoughts. The proliferation of gambling/fantasy/etc. contributes mightily to these standalone games on Thursday nights and in/around the holidays drawing the ratings they do. It's not THE reason for drawing such a large audience, but it's a factor.

Didn't the Steelers play…the Ravens?… on a Tuesday during the Covid season? And at like 2 p.m.? So Tuesday afternoon football (TAF) did happen. I wonder what the TV viewing stats were? It'd be interesting to know, as far as NFL football on a Tuesday goes.
Games have been played on Tuesdays, just not originally scheduled on Tuesdays. Your memory is partially accurate. The league moved two games in both 2020 (Bills-Titans, Cowboys-Ravens) and 2021 (Rams-Seahawks, Eagles-Washington) to Tuesdays, all at night, due to Covid outbreaks/protocols. The league also moved a Vikings-Eagles game from Sunday to Tuesday night in 2010 due to a huge blizzard in Philly. Prior to that, the last NFL game played on a Tuesday was in 1946.

My prediction for the next (first?) NFL game on a Tuesday will be when Christmas is on a Tuesday in 2029. It will probably be followed by the Tuesday Christmas Eve game in 2030.
That sounds like a better alternative than another pandemic.

Hello gentlemen. Division games overseas. No way. Do you believe the owners would fight this idea?
They've already basically approved it.

Mike said something interesting in "Unscripted," in that Watson is the for sure No. 1 receiver because of his impact. Is the most important receiver the same as the No. 1 receiver? Christian Watson is obviously this team's most important receiver, because of how defenses play us. When I think of a No. 1 receiver, I think of the guy that is getting the most targets a game like a Davante. Agree or disagree?
There are semantic arguments that probably aren't worth the breath spent, honestly. Not taking into account how the defense reacts, schematically the No. 1 receiver is the primary read most often based on the play calls, which isn't necessarily the one who gets the most targets because of progressions and reads. To each his own with the label, I guess.

In response to Yotam from Israel, 10 NFL stadiums will be installing new natural grass for the World Cup; seven artificial grass stadiums (MetLife, ATT, Mercedes-Benz, NRG, SoFi, Gillette and Lumen), three natural turf stadiums (Arrowhead, Hard Rock and Lincoln Financial). It sounds like as soon as the World Cup is over, even the stadiums with natural grass will rip up the new grass and go back to their original grass.
Thanks for the knowledge.

Mike's reply to Michelle from Darlington (...) seems like a valid argument for having a veteran backup QB. I'm sure many remember Doug Pederson. Is this a legit argument for keeping three QBs on the 53, full time? A veteran backup providing his insight and a younger developmental prospect?
I'm not sure how many veteran backups who can still win games in a pinch are available. In an ideal world, sure, all teams would love to arrange things that way, but that 53rd roster spot involves a lot of other considerations, though, too, as it relates to developmental players teams don't want to expose to waivers, depth options for injuries, and special teams. There's no perfect formula.

Will the Pack ask Aaron Rodgers to retire as a Packer?
He already has said publicly he plans to do that.

With the change from Walker to Zaire Franklin, how do you see that affecting Edgerrin Cooper?
Not much, really. How Gannon wants to use him will matter more than whom he's playing alongside.
Doug from Salem, OR
One thing that makes the offseason so interesting is all the questions that are unanswered. Will Micah Parsons, Tucker Kraft and Zach Tom return from serious injury as the same players? Will Jonathon Gannon be able to put the pieces together to create an elite defense? Who will fill the shoes of Rashan Gary? Will Skyy Moore finally solve the problem of the rotating returners? Will MarShawn Lloyd stay healthy? Can Matthew Golden and Savion Williams be as effective as Doubs and Wicks? So much fun.
And none of those questions will even begin to be answered in earnest until 3:25 p.m. on Sept. 13, which is why this is called the baloney season.

Sports cliches that should be retired sounds like a great Outsider Inbox opp. That will give us time to "stay ready so we don't have to be ready," and when we "step up to the plate" and "seize the moment" we will realize that "great moments are born from great opportunity." Those that pass on which breathy cliches to retire will miss "100% of the shots they don't take" so "control what you can control" and "leave it all on the field." We've "just got to take it one cliche at a time."
Seems you checked all the boxes. Enjoy the holiday, everyone.
