Mike Dressler, of North Fond du Lac/Horace Mann High School, has been named Green Bay Packers Coach of the Week, the organization announced Thursday. Dressler is the first recipient of the award in 2008.

"I'm very humbled by this honor," Dressler said. "It is a reflection on not just me, but our team, our school and our community that is trying to rebuild this whole tradition at North Fond du Lac High School."

Dressler receives the award after leading North Fond du Lac to a 48-13 defeat of Ozaukee last Friday night at the Orioles' Art Humphrey Field. Friday served as a night of several firsts for Dressler and the team. The win was his first after taking over as the school's head coach this past offseason, and marked the program's first victory since the 2006 campaign.

"It was our first regular-season victory in two years and I believe it was our first home victory in four years," he said.

Dressler assumed the head coaching position at North Fond du Lac after serving as an assistant at the school the previous two seasons. Prior to that, he collected more than 30 years of experience at six different schools, including three head coaching stops, highlighted by his 12-year stint at Fond du Lac High School.

His current coaching staff is rounded out by assistants Zach Ruch, Andy Selgrad, Ot Selgrad and Andy Soll.

Dressler was born in Milwaukee, and attended nearby Pulaski High School where he was a letterman in both football and track. He also played collegiately at UW-Whitewater where he was a split end, earning honorable mention NAIA All-America honors his senior year, and was inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1988.

He and his wife Diane have two daughters, Debbie and Heidi.
