The Green Bay Packers, Bellin Health and the Safe Kids Coalition will team up for an event to promote bike safety on Thursday, July 28, at Lambeau Field.

The event, which is part of the Titletown Wellness initiative, will be held after the scheduled Packers training camp session, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Lambeau Field's east parking lot near the Oneida Nation Gate.

The bike rodeo will feature free bike helmet fittings, a free bike helmet giveaway and a safety course for children to learn and practice bicycle riding skills. Participants also will have the opportunity to enter to win prizes, including children's bikes and tickets to Packers Family Night, presented by Bellin Health.

Children can take part in the free bike helmet fitting between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Free bike helmets will be available for the first 800 children, or while supplies last. For those who have helmets, representatives will be on hand to check sizing and make adjustments. Safety experts will educate children and parents alike on the importance of wearing bike helmets.

Children may then take part in a bike obstacle course, instructed by the De Pere Police Department, which will teach them safe biking skills.

The bike safety event celebrates the Green Bay Packers' time-honored tradition in which children bring their bikes to training camp and allow the football players to ride the bikes between the locker room and the practice facilities.

MEMO TO THE MEDIA:

Media are welcome to cover the event and are advised to come at the beginning of the event at 10:30 a.m. Representatives of the Packers and Bellin Health will be on hand for photos and interviews.
