Packers place S Darnell Savage, CB Eric Stokes on injured reserve

Green Bay signs three cornerbacks

The Green Bay Packers have placed S Darnell Savage and CB Eric Stokes on injured reserve, signed CB Corey Ballentine to the active roster from the practice squad, signed CB Robert Rochell to the active roster from the Carolina Panthers' practice squad and signed CB Zyon Gilbert to the practice squad. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Wednesday.

(BAL-en-tine) Ballentine has been on the Packers' practice squad and active roster since early last season, appearing in the final eight games for Green Bay in 2022 and three games this season. He was originally selected by the New York Giants in the sixth round (No. 180 overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Washburn University in Kansas. Ballentine has played for the Giants (2019-20), New York Jets (2020) and Detroit Lions (2021) and also spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals. For his career (2019-23), Ballentine has played in 43 games with four starts, recording 40 tackles (32 solo), three passes defensed, a QB hit, a forced fumble and 16 special teams tackles. He has also returned 36 kickoffs for 855 yards (23.8 avg.) with a long of 66 yards. Ballentine will wear No. 35 for the Packers.

(roh-SHELL) Rochell (6-0, 193), a third-year player out of Central Arkansas, was originally selected in the fourth round (No. 130 overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams. In two seasons with the Rams (2021-22), he played in 28 games with five starts, recording 15 tackles (12 solo), an interception and four passes defensed. Rochell also registered four tackles and two fumble recoveries on special teams. After being released by the Rams following the 2023 training camp, he spent time on the practice squads of the Seattle Seahawks and the Panthers. Rochell will wear No. 22 for the Packers.

(ZYE-in) Gilbert (6-0, 193), a first-year player out of Florida Atlantic, was originally signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He spent his rookie season on the Giants' practice squad and active roster, appearing in three games with one start. Gilbert posted 10 tackles (seven solo), a tackle for a loss, a sack, a QB hit and four tackles on special teams. He was released by the Giants following the 2023 training camp. Gilbert will wear No. 27 for the Packers.
