Packers Sign DE Montgomery, Place LB Barnett On Injured Reserve

The Green Bay Packers have signed DE Michael Montgomeryand placed LB Nick Barnett on injured reserve. The transactions were announced Friday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.

Montgomery, a 6-foot-5, 282-pound sixth-year player out of Texas A&M, was selected by the Packers in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft and played in 56 games with eight starts during his five seasons in Green Bay (2005-09). He signed with the Minnesota Vikings as a free agent in March 2010, but was released in the final roster cutdown in September. Montgomery will wear No. 99.

Barnett sustained a wrist injury vs. Detroit in Week 4.
