Packers sign RB Joel Bouagnon

First-year running back originally signed with the Chicago Bears

The Green Bay Packers have signed RB Joel Bouagnon. The transaction was announced Wednesday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.

Bouagnon (jo-ELL bwon-NYO), a 6-foot-2, 230-pound first-year player out of Northern Illinois, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Chicago Bears on May 12, 2017. He was placed on injured reserve on Aug. 5 before being released by the Bears on Aug. 9. Bouagnon finished his collegiate career ranked No. 9 in school history in carries (600), No. 11 in rushing yards (2,911), No. 7 in rushing touchdowns (31) and No. 6 in total touchdowns (34). He earned second-team All-Mid-American Conference honors as a senior after posting a team-high 885 yards on 182 carries (4.9 avg.) with eight TDs. As a junior in 2015, he finished second in the conference with a career-best 1,285 yards on 283 carries (4.5 avg.) with a career-high 18 TDs on his way to first-team All-MAC recognition.
