The Green Bay Packers have placed TE Tucker Kraft on injured reserve, signed DL Arron Mosby and TE Josh Whyle from the practice squad to the active roster, signed TE McCallan Castles, TE Drake Dabney, LB Kristian Welch and WR Michael Woods II to the practice squad, and released G/C Lecitus Smith from the practice squad. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Tuesday.
Mosby has been on Green Bay's practice squad all season, appearing in three contests as a gameday elevation and recording two tackles on special teams. He joined the Packers in 2023 and spent the entire season on the Packers' practice squad. Mosby played in 16 games for the Packers in 2024, registering eight tackles (two solo), a tackle for a loss, a shared sack, two QB hits, two passes defensed and four special teams tackles. He originally entered the NFL with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State in May 2022 and spent the entire 2022 season with the Panthers on their practice squad/active roster, appearing in three games.
(WHY-lee) Whyle was signed to the Packers' practice squad after this year's training camp. He is a third-year player out of the University of Cincinnati who was originally selected by the Tennessee Titans in the fifth round (No. 147 overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. Whyle played in 28 games with seven starts for the Titans in two seasons (2023-24), recording 37 receptions for 342 yards (9.2 avg.) and two touchdowns. Whyle also recorded four tackles on special teams. Last season, he posted career highs in receptions (28), receiving yards (248) and special teams tackles (four). In college, he was a three-time All-American Athletic Conference selection who set a school record for most career receiving TDs (15) by a tight end.
(mick-CAL-un) Castles (6-4, 244), a first-year player out of the University of Tennessee, originally signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent on May 3, 2024. He spent time on the practice squad of the Los Angeles Chargers last season before being released early in training camp this year. Castles spent the rest of training camp with the Los Angeles Rams before being released. In six collegiate seasons (2018-23), he posted 1,226 yards and 14 TDs on 92 receptions (13.3 avg.) in 46 career games (24 starts). Castles played for the University of California-Berkeley (2018-19), UC Davis (2020-22) and Tennessee (2023). He will wear No. 47 for the Packers.
Dabney (6-5, 246), a rookie out of TCU, originally signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent on May 12. He spent the first two games of the season on the Titans' practice squad. Dabney spent the first four seasons (2020-23) of his college career at Baylor, where he played in 40 games with 24 starts at tight end and collected 65 receptions for 873 yards (13.4 avg.) and eight TDs. He transferred to TCU for his final season in 2024, where he started all 13 games and logged 19 catches for 193 yards (10.2 avg.). Dabney will wear No. 49 for the Packers.
Welch, a sixth-year player out of the University of Iowa, spent the regular season on the Packers' practice squad before being signed to the active roster on Saturday and then released on Monday. The Iola, Wis., native originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent and has played for the Packers (2023, 2025), Baltimore Ravens (2020-22, 2024) and Denver Broncos (2024), appearing in 73 regular-season games with two starts and recording 13 tackles (six solo) on defense and 27 tackles and a fumble recovery on special teams.
Woods (6-1, 204), a third-year player out of the University of Oklahoma, was originally selected by the Cleveland Browns in the sixth round (No. 202 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. He played in 15 games with two starts for the Browns in 2022 and 2024, registering 12 receptions for 110 yards (9.2 avg.). Woods earned All-Big 12 honorable mention from the league's coaches in 2021 after transferring to Oklahoma from Arkansas. He will wear No. 89 for the Packers.
