Packers Sign WR Allen, Place WR Swain On Injured Reserve

The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Jake Allen from the practice squad and placed WR Brett Swain on injured reserve. The team also signed WR Biren Ealy and WR Patrick Williams to the practice squad and released G Stanley Daniels from the practice squad. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the transactions Tuesday.

Allen spent the season's first seven weeks on the Packers' practice squad after spending the entire 2008 season there. A 6-foot-4, 196-pound player, he will wear No. 13.

Swain had played in all six games in 2009.

Ealy, a 6-foot-2, 212-pound second-year player, played in four games with the Tennessee Titans in 2007. He spent the 2008 season on the Titans' practice squad and spent time this offseason with New Orleans and Baltimore. He will wear No. 19.

Williams, a 6-foot-1, 204-pound, originally signed with the Packers this offseason as a non-drafted rookie free agent. He will wear No. 18.
