Defensive end Joe Johnson has suffered a tear of his right quadriceps tendon, just above the kneecap, Packers GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman announced Tuesday.

Incurred late in the first quarter of Green Bay's game with Kansas City this past Sunday, the full extent of Johnson's injury was shown by an MRI performed on Monday.

"Joe will have surgery within a couple of weeks to repair the injury," Sherman said. "At some point we will place him on injured reserve."

Johnson had started the first six games at the 'Power' (left) defensive end position for Green Bay.
