RODGERS HITS JONES FOR TD
Just seven days after he signed a contract to come back to the Packers, WR James Jones hauled in a 13-yard TD pass on third down from QB Aaron Rodgers for Green Bay's first points of the season, giving the Packers an early 7-3 lead. Jones would catch a second TD pass later in the game, finishing with four catches for 51 yards in a triumphant return.
DEFENSE MAKES GOAL-LINE STAND
Protecting a 24-16 lead in the fourth quarter, the Packers' defense came up big at the goal line. The Bears faced second-and-goal on the 2-yard line but were stopped on three straight tries to score, all incomplete passes. The fourth-down stop was helped by a blitzing S Sean Richardson, who hurried Bears QB Jay Cutler's throw, and the Packers kept the lead.
MATTHEWS GETS THE CLUTCH PICK
On the Bears' next possession, they were driving again, having just picked up a first down inside the Green Bay 30-yard line. LB Clay Matthews then read Cutler's eyes right from the snap as he tried to make a quick throw to TE Martellus Bennett over the middle, and Matthews picked it off. His long return set up the Packers' final TD of the game in the eventual 31-23 win.
