From football to flowers

I look forward to answering your questions this week as we approach the halfway mark of the 2025 NFL season. Much has happened since last month, most importantly, we've won a few football games but also announced Luke Combs is coming to Lambeau Field for not just one, but two nights.

As we head into Week 9, we are 5-1-1, sit atop the NFC, and our team just went on the road in primetime on Sunday Night Football and won in Pittsburgh for the first time since 1970 when Bart Starr got the better of Terry Bradshaw and the Steelers. Notching another win against a well-coached team with a legendary quarterback is something everyone on our team should be proud of.

Now, we are gearing up for a couple of home games in a row against the Panthers and Eagles. I am excited for the team to debut our 1923 classic uniforms tomorrow against the Panthers and then play on Monday Night Football against the reigning Super Bowl champion Eagles.

You all had some wide-ranging questions this month, from flowers to football… Let's get into them!

Hi Ed, I watch the sport from afar, and love that the game will be headed to Melbourne next season even if it's not the Packers playing. Fingers crossed I can get tickets! Aside from playing games in other countries, what are the Packers doing to grow their identity around the world? Thanks!

Hi Damian, thanks for your question. As you may know, the Packers now have a presence in the UK, Germany, and Ireland. Through the NFL Global Markets Program, we are growing our brand and telling our story overseas. Our marketing team just got back from a trip to Dublin and London where we hosted Packers Huddle events – free fan meet-up events featuring our alumni. In fact, we have two Packers Huddle events next weekend in Berlin where we will bring together football fans in Germany to tell our story. We've also launched a German Instagram account to engage with German-speaking fans and have translated content available on packers.com/international. We will continue using events and mediums like this to engage fans around the globe outside of gamedays.

Mr. Policy, I was happy to see a concert scheduled for Lambeau Field for 2026. Can we expect to see yearly concerts now that you are in charge?

I am excited to see Luke Combs fill up Lambeau Field twice this spring, Robert. We are increasing our focus on bringing more big events to Lambeau Field and our community. More big events at Lambeau Field means more than just concerts. It means college football like the Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin game on September 6, 2026. We are also looking at hockey, soccer, and other creative ways to host large-scale events at Lambeau Field.

I am looking forward to your continued winning leadership in your new role. I took a stroll to Lambeau Field ticket office today and on my way I noticed the security barrier planters freshly planted with mums. Nice! The only PROBLEM from my standpoint is the mums are PURPLE AND YELLOW! I have led global marketing across several major brands and you have a BIG branding opportunity and cultural transformation opportunity to set standards higher. As a shareholder and longtime fan, I never stop seeking excellence and high standards. The Coca-Cola Co. and several others I have worked for has been a great experience in excellence and branding and thus I keep my eye out on opportunities for our beloved Packers as well.

Geez, Jim, you just ruined the view outside my office window by pointing that out. Now all I notice is purple. I don't know that I have the authority to make Lambeau Field a purple-free zone, but I agree with you and will instruct our grounds crew to greatly diminish the use of purple flora throughout Lambeau Field. I'm just glad that I received your note in time to cancel the Honolulu Blue hydrangeas that were scheduled to be planted this spring.

Hello Mr. Policy. Great to have you follow Mr. Murphy, big shoes to fill but I'm sure you'll do just great! My question is do you plan to make any significant changes from how Mr. Murphy ran the organization, or keep things status quo? Glad you are keeping this column, I enjoy the read each month.

I commend you, Jeffrey, for sticking up for your Packers fandom in Viking country and appreciate your question. Continuity has been a hallmark of the Packers Way for decades. But so has guarding against complacency. I had the honor of working for Mark Murphy for 13 years. During that time, I watched him lead the organization through a tremendous period of growth and success on and off the field. I intend to continue much of what Mark started with the organization. You can count on continuity, stability, consistency, and reliability, but that does not mean status quo. As Mark did, I am bringing a fresh perspective and taking a critical look at everything we do. Times change. The NFL changes. Market conditions change. And our community evolves. The Packers need to keep evolving, innovating, and pushing hard to stay ahead on the field and in the front office.

Hey Ed, I think I read that when you were a kid your dad once gave you a hard time for wearing a Browns jersey at the dinner table as he'd just taken the job with the 49ers. So I have ask, if your dad didn't work in the NFL and you weren't forced to be a 49ers fan, who would have been your favorite player growing up and why? P.S. I hope you've told your dad he needs to be a Packers fan now. Go Pack Go!

Hi, Max. That is a true story. In fact, I don't think I ever saw my Brian Sipe jersey again after that evening. But I am proud to report that my dad has converted into a huge Packers fan. He's the proud owner of both Packers stock and a cheesehead. Believe it or not, my first favorite football player was Bart Starr. My dad attended Super Bowl I and brought home an autographed poster featuring the two starting quarterbacks, Bart Starr and Len Dawson. A few years later after I was born, the poster found a new home in my room. So, I woke up every morning for the first 10 years of my life greeted by the inspiring image of Bart Starr. I never saw Bart play, but I had the honor of meeting him a number of times when I first started working with the Packers. He was one of the most gracious and inspiring human beings I've ever met. So, it turns out, young Ed chose well.

Is there any possibility of the Packers unveiling futuristic uniforms as an alternative? Including a different logo? Many other teams have done that with mixed results, but they've tried. Throwbacks are fine but I'd like to see something different. How about a bright Kelly green, with true gold pants, rather than mustard. Something abstract for a logo, rather than the "G". Go wild! I'm a 60-something lifelong fan that would love to see something non-traditional. I've always felt that Packer uniforms were some of the most unattractive uniforms in all of sports, and the most boring and unimaginative logo. There's something to be said about tradition and not forgetting the past but at the same time, everything must move forward eventually.

Thank you for the question, Dale. As noted in the intro, we are debuting our 1923 classic uniforms this weekend against the Carolina Panthers. I respectfully disagree with your assessment of our current uniforms and logo, but I appreciate your forward thinking. What if the Packers introduced a new alternate uniform that is not based on a historic uniform, but is inspired by one of the most unique and defining pieces of Packers history? Stay tuned...
