With Packers alumnus Sterling Sharpe set to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August, the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame is offering a new exhibit for visitors to learn more about the wide receiver and his career.
The temporary exhibit, titled "Call from Canton," looks back at the jaw-dropping numbers Sharpe produced as one of the best receivers in the NFL from 1988-94 and allows fans to relive some of Sharpe's greatest moments in a Packers uniform. The exhibit also details the historic nature of Sharpe's induction as he joins his older brother Shannon among the NFL's all-time greats, marking the first-ever set of brothers enshrined in Canton.
Drafted seventh overall by the Packers in the 1988 NFL Draft, Sharpe retired as the organization's all-time leader in receptions (595) while ranking second in receiving yards (8,134) and touchdown receptions (65). A three-time First-Team All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowl selection, Sharpe became the first player in NFL history to register two 100-catch seasons, with his 108 catches in 1992 setting an NFL single-season record at that time. Sharpe also accomplished the rare receiver triple crown in 1992, leading the league in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
The exhibit is located on the first floor of the Packers Hall of Fame, adjacent to the community gallery. The Packers Hall of Fame is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on non-gameday Sundays.
