The Green Bay Packers signed DL Devonte O'Malley and DB Jaylin Simpson, released CB Garnett Hollis Jr. and waived/injured DL Keith Randolph. The transactions were announced Monday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.
O'Malley (6-3, 284), a rookie out of Northern Illinois, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Tennessee Titans on May 9 and was released on Aug. 3. He appeared in 58 games with 46 starts over five seasons (2020-24) for the Huskies, recording 130 tackles (69 solo), 30 tackles for a loss, 22.5 sacks, an interception, two passes defensed, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. O'Malley finished No. 6 on NIU's career chart in sacks. In 2024, he earned honorable mention All-America honors from Phil Steele's College Football and was first-team All-MAC. O'Malley will wear No. 69 for the Packers.
Simpson (6-0, 180), a first-year player, was originally selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the fifth round (No. 164 overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Auburn. He spent his rookie year on the Colts' practice squad before being signed to the New York Jets' active roster, but was inactive for the final four games of the season. In college, Simpson played in 47 games with 23 starts and earned second-team All-SEC honors in 2023. He will wear No. 38 for the Packers.
