Packers.com has consulted more than two dozen mock drafts from reputable national outlets and compiled a list of players most frequently mocked as draft selections in the latter portion of the first round (picks 20-32) who could be available when the Packers are on the clock at No. 25 overall.

Between now and draft day, those players will be profiled with thumbnail sketches and videos known as "Prospect Primers."

Today's player is …

Byron Murphy II, DL, Texas

Height/Weight: 6-0 1/2, 297

Key stats: Recorded 70 tackles, including 15 for loss and eight sacks, over three seasons, establishing career highs across the board in 2023 (29 tackles, 8½ TFLs, five sacks).

College honors: In 2023, named second-team All-America from several media outlets, first-team All-Big 12 by league's coaches and Associated Press, and Big 12 defensive lineman of the year.

Background/other info: An impressive, explosive athlete for a 300-pounder, proved it at the combine by posting a 4.87-second 40 and 33-inch vertical jump, numbers accompanied by standout work in the drills in Indy that have him shooting up draft boards and possibly not lasting until the back half of the first round. Lined up anywhere from nose tackle to the edge in college and projects to fit best as a three-technique in the NFL. Has the passion and motor to go with all the physical traits. Didn't start regularly at Texas (his native state) until his third season, last year, but quickly became one of the best defensive linemen in the country. Only questions seem to be his height and arm length as a long-term interior player, but that seems nitpicky given his overall ability.
