Packers sign LB Kendall Donnerson to active roster; S Ibraheim Campbell placed on injured reserve

Safeties Tray Matthews and Jason Thompson signed to practice squad

The Green Bay Packers signed LB Kendall Donnerson to the active roster from the practice squad, signed S Tray Matthews and S Jason Thompson to the practice squad and placed S Ibraheim Campbell on injured reserve. The transactions were announced Tuesday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.

Donnerson (6-3, 249) was originally selected by the Packers in the seventh round (No. 248 overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Southeast Missouri. He has spent the entire season on Green Bay's practice squad. Donnerson finished his college career ranked No. 3 in school history in tackles for a loss (34.5) and No. 4 in sacks (12). As a senior, he earned first-team All-Ohio Valley conference honors after posting career highs in tackles (53), tackles for a loss (13.5) and sacks (six).

Matthews (6-1, 213), a rookie out of Auburn, was originally signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent on May 4. After being waived/injured by the Vikings on Sept. 1, he was placed on injured reserve and then released on Sept. 11. Matthews spent a short time on the practice squad of the Indianapolis Colts. He began his college career at Georgia before transferring to Auburn, where he played in 36 games with 33 starts. Matthews will wear No. 34 for the Packers.

Thompson (6-2, 210), a first-year player out of the University of Utah, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the New England Patriots on May 5, 2017. After being released following training camp, he spent some time on the practice squads of the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks as a rookie. In 2018, Thompson was with the Dallas Cowboys early in the offseason and spent training camp with the Tennessee Titans. He was on the Washington Redskins' practice squad for a brief time during the regular season. Thompson will wear No. 40 for the Packers.
