As part of the Green Bay Packers Salute to Service Week coming up as November kicks off, the organization will host a traumatic brain injury (TBI) seminar led by the Medical College of Wisconsin's BRAVE program. BRAVE, the Midwest's only TBI program specifically designed for veterans and first responders, will deliver four, 45-minute presentations on key issues that affect the veteran community.

The free seminars will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Nov. 4, in the Johnsonville Tailgate Village.

Topics will include:

  • Military Culture & Identity: Examining the challenges faced when transitioning to civilian life.
  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI): Providing essential information on the prevalence and impact of TBIs, dispelling myths and highlighting long-term symptoms.
  • Stress Response: Exploring trauma education and polyvagal theory, addressing how trauma affects behavior, memory and emotional regulation, while offering coping strategies.
  • Sleep: Discussing sleep difficulties common among veterans and exploring medical, psychological and trauma-related factors that disrupt healthy sleep patterns.

Veterans are invited to register for the seminar at this link. As seminar capacity is limited, registration is reserved for veterans unless a companion is needed for physical or emotional support. If the companion is also a veteran, please register separately as a veteran attendee rather than as a companion. Service animals are welcome and do not require registration.

The Packers' Salute to Service Week is part of the Packers' Salute to Service campaign, presented by Fleet Farm, which is held annually in conjunction with the NFL's recognition of Veterans Day. More information about this year's campaign will be announced in the coming weeks.

About the BRAVE program

BRAVE is a traumatic brain injury treatment program specifically designed for military veterans and first responders. BRAVE is an intensive outpatient program, designed for the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of the symptoms caused by TBI. The BRAVE program is the first of its kind in the Midwest and one of only a few in the United States. It was founded by a generous gift from the Avalon Action Alliance, a post-trauma, wellness non-profit organization that provides care for the "invisible wounds" carried by veterans and first responders. Participants in the program receive treatment at BRAVE's 12,000 square foot location in Milwaukee, Wis
