Hired Feb. 19, 2024, Eddie Gordon begins his second season as the assistant offensive line coach for the Packers. Gordon possesses seven years of collegiate coaching experience, most recently as the offensive line coach at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2023.
In Gordon's first season with Green Bay in 2024, the Packers' offensive line contributed to the team's top-five rankings in sacks allowed (No. 2, 22), total offense (No. 5, 370.8 ypg), rushing offense (No. 5, 146.8 ypg) and yards per play (No. 5, 6.14), one of only two teams in the NFL (Baltimore) to accomplish that feat last season and the Packers' first time doing so since 2003. Green Bay posted 2,496 rushing yards, the second most in a season in team history, and 6,303 total yards, the fourth most in franchise annals.
The line helped clear the way for RB Josh Jacobs to earn Pro Bowl recognition in his first season with the Packers as Jacobs posted a team-high 1,329 rushing yards and a career-best 15 TDs on 301 carries (4.4 avg.), the most rushing yards and rushing TDs by a Packer in his first season with the team. Green Bay featured four linemen (G Elgton Jenkins, G Sean Rhyan, T Zach Tom, T Rasheed Walker) who started every game last season, with Rhyan, Tom and Walker becoming the first trio of offensive linemen to all be drafted in the same class (2022) and go on to start every game for that team in a season since Kansas City's draft class of 1974 had three linemen start every game for the Chiefs in 1981. Jenkins was named a first alternate for the Pro Bowl while C Josh Myers was also named an alternate for the first time in his career, and Tom earned first-team All-Pro honors from Pro Football Focus.
Gordon was part of a staff that helped UAB set a single-season school record for total offense with an average of 450.0 yards per game, good for No. 18 in the nation in 2023. The Blazers posted 450-plus total yards in six of 12 games, including four games with 500-plus yards of total offense. UAB also set a single-season school mark with an average of 23.8 first downs per game and registered 285 total first downs, the second most in a season in school history.
Gordon's line protected QB Jacob Zeno, who checked in at No. 14 in the nation in 2023 with an average of 284.2 passing yards per game as he threw 20 TD passes and just nine INTs. The line also helped clear the way for RB Jermaine Brown Jr., who earned third-team All-American Athletic Conference honors after leading the conference with an average of 129.7 all-purpose yards per game. Brown finished the season with 803 rushing yards and 12 TDs along with 416 receiving yards. Gordon's line also blocked for freshman RB Lee Beebe, who ranked No. 16 in the nation (min. 50 att.) in yards per carry with a 6.92-yard average (360 yards on 52 carries), the second-best mark in school history.
Prior to UAB, Gordon spent the previous four seasons at the University of Georgia, where he was a part of staffs that helped guide the Bulldogs to back-to-back national titles (2021-22) and a 29-1 overall record in those two seasons. Gordon served as the offensive line graduate assistant from 2019-21 and spent the 2022 season as an offensive quality control coach, helping Georgia rank No. 6 in the nation in sacks allowed (60) and No. 9 in scoring (36.1 ppg) from 2019-22. During his time with the Bulldogs, Gordon helped coach four offensive tackles who went on to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft in Andrew Thomas (No. 4 overall by the N.Y. Giants in 2020), Isaiah Wilson (No. 29 overall by Tennessee in 2020), Broderick Jones (No. 14 overall by Pittsburgh in 2023) and Amarius Mims (No. 18 overall by Cincinnati in 2024).
In 2022, Gordon was part of an offensive staff that helped the Bulldogs finish No. 4 in the nation in sacks allowed per game at 0.60 (nine sacks in 15 games). Georgia ranked No. 5 in the nation in scoring (41.1 ppg), No. 1 in total points (school-record 616), No. 5 in total offense (501.2 ypg), No. 15 in passing offense (295.8 ypg) and No. 19 in rushing offense (205.3 ypg). In 2021, Gordon helped tutor a line that ranked No. 6 in the nation in sacks allowed per game (1.07), allowing one sack/zero sacks in 12 of 15 contests on the season. The Bulldogs also ranked No. 9 in the nation in scoring (38.6 ppg), recording 30-plus points in 13 of 15 games and 40-plus points in seven contests. In his first season with the Bulldogs in 2019, Gordon helped coach Thomas, who earned unanimous All-America recognition as part of a Georgia line that ranked tied for No. 5 in the nation in sacks allowed (1.07 per game). The line helped block for RB D'Andre Swift, who rushed for 1,218 yards and seven TDs, and QB Jake Fromm, who threw 24 TD passes with just five INTs.
Prior to Georgia, Gordon spent two seasons at his alma mater, the University of Louisiana, where he served as the director of player development and assistant strength and conditioning coach in 2018 and as offensive line graduate assistant in 2017.
Gordon played on the offensive line at Louisiana for three seasons (2014-16), where he started all 25 contests over his final two seasons (24 at C, one at LG). He earned All-Sun Belt honorable mention as a senior in 2016 after helping the Ragin' Cajuns average 178.9 rushing yards per game, including 200- plus rushing yards in seven of 13 contests. Gordon spent the 2013 season at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College, where he earned All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference honorable mention.
