Biography

The Green Bay Packers announced the hire of Vince Oghobaase (oh-guh-BAH-see) as assistant defensive line coach on March 12, 2024.

Oghobaase joins the Packers after spending four seasons coaching the defensive line at Boston College (2020-23). In 2022, he coached DE Donovan Ezeiruaku, who earned second-team All-ACC honors after posting 8.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss; both the most by an Eagle since 2018. Oghobaase helped coach a defense that finished No. 3 nationally in passing yards allowed (173.5 ypg) in 2021. Prior to his time at BC, he coached the defensive line for UCLA in 2018-19. In his first season at UCLA in 2018, Oghobaase tutored a line that helped the Bruins make significant improvements in yards allowed per carry (4.60 in 2018, 5.76 in 2017) and total defense (444.9 ypg in 2018, 483.7 in 2017). In 2016-17, Oghobaase served as the assistant defensive line coach for the San Francisco 49ers, where he helped tutor DL DeForest Buckner, who earned PFWA All-Rookie honors in 2016. Oghobaase began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Duke (2011-12) and Ohio State (2013-15). He was a four-year starter as a player at Duke (2006-09), earning freshman All-American honors (2006), honorable mention All-ACC twice (2008-09) and third-team All-America honors from The Sporting News (2009).
