Biography
The Green Bay Packers have signed RB Josh Jacobs. The transaction was announced Thursday, March 14, 2024 by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.
Jacobs (5-10, 223), a sixth-year player out of the University of Alabama, was originally selected in the first round (No. 24 overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Raiders. He played in 73 games with 72 starts for the Raiders in five seasons, registering 5,545 rushing yards on 1,305 carries (4.2 avg.) with 46 touchdowns while hauling in 197 receptions for 1,448 yards (7.4 avg.). He also started the only postseason contest he played in, posting 83 rushing yards on 13 attempts (6.4 avg.) with four receptions for 44 yards (11.0 avg.). Jacobs joined Emmitt Smith, Ricky Watters, Curtis Martin, LaDainian Tomlinson and Ezekiel Elliott as the only NFL players with 5,500-plus rushing yards, 45-plus rushing TDs and 175-plus receptions in their first five seasons. Jacobs passed RB Marcus Allen (5,397 yards from 1982-86) for the most rushing yards by a Raider in his first five seasons. From 2019-23, Jacobs ranked in the top five of the NFL in rushing yards (No. 2), rushing TDs (No. 2), rushing first downs (286, No. 2), yards from scrimmage (6,993, No. 4) and 10-plus-yard runs (127, No. 5). He was the only RB in the league with 1,100-plus yards from scrimmage and six-plus scrimmage TDs in each of the last five seasons (2019-23).
