Added inventory for 'Tent Sale'

This year's Packers Pro Shop tent sale will feature a wider variety of items than in recent years, according to Director of Retail Operations Kate Hogan.

With the NFL as a whole changing apparel vendors in 2012, the Packers Pro Shop will be clearing out the inventory from all the old vendors in the 19th annual sale that runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday in the Lambeau Field Atrium.

"In the past, we may have carried over a style (of shirt, for example), because it was popular," Hogan said. "We won't do that this year."

That added inventory also applies to the apparel items that come from the equipment department, including jackets and sweats. With new jerseys being made by Nike, the old ones from Reebok must go, as well.

"It's an opportunity to get some favorite players at reduced prices," Hogan said.

This will mark the ninth year the sale will be held in the Atrium, but just the second time it will last only one day instead of two.

Hogan said it became difficult to maintain the momentum of the sale late into the second day in the past, so last year it was shortened to one day with positive results.

There was still a line outside the Atrium to get in when the doors opened, Hogan said, and the traffic and energy were steady throughout.

"People were finding treasures all day long," she said.

An added bonus related to the vendor change is that the new apparel collections are already stocked in the Pro Shop, which will be open adjacent to the tent sale. In the past, the new inventory didn't arrive until later in June or, perhaps, July, but this year it arrived in April with the changeover, so tent sale shoppers can check out the latest styles, too.

"We've been preparing for this for a month," Hogan said. "There are a lot of fun and different things to choose from."
