Packers' American Flag Sales To Benefit Veteran's Memorial and DAV

Fans of the green and gold can now add a little red, white and blue to their Packers' collection. That's because the Green Bay Packers are now offering American Flags that have flown over Lambeau Field.

Not only will Packers' fans get a unique and patriotic item, they will also be helping to build the new Brown County Veterans Memorial and help disabled veterans through a donation to Disabled American Veterans, Department of Wisconsin (DAV Department of Wisconsin). Ten percent of each sale will be divided and donated to the organizations. The Brown County Veterans Memorial will be dedicated this Memorial Day. DAV Department of Wisconsin is a nationally recognized non-profit organization with headquarters in Green Bay. They help transport disabled veterans to medical appointments and give support to the disabled veterans and their families.

"For some time now, we've been receiving requests for flags that have flown at Lambeau Field," explained Kate Hogan, Director of Retail Operations for the Green Bay Packers. "We realized this presented two great opportunities: offering our fans a special item with a Packers' tie and, at the same time, helping to raise funds for the local veterans."

Here's how the American Flag offering works: Each day (excluding weekends and holidays), a 4' x 6' American Flag is flown for approximately seven hours over Lambeau Field. On game days, a 5' x 8' flag is flown. They are sold on the Packers Pro Shop's Web site (www.packersproshop.com) on a first come, first served basis and include a certificate of authenticity.

Prices are:

  • $125 for a 4' x 6' flag
  • $90 for a flag case made of a Poplar hardwood with a cherry stain
  • $500 for a 5' x 8" game day flag (includes case)

Customers should request the date they would like when placing their order. They can order dates in advance and the flags will be shipped 2-3 days after the flag is flown. (Again, specific dates are sold on a first come, first served basis).

"This item is turning out to be a lot of fun because we're receiving orders from people who want to buy the flag flown on their birthday or anniversary date or the day the Packers play a specific opponent," Hogan said. "Plus, it's a great way to help raise funds for the veterans."
