The Green Bay Packers Foundation has awarded $250,000 to Achieve Brown County (ABC), Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy announced Tuesday.
A check presentation took place at a ceremony at the Lambeau Field Atrium on Tuesday, July 22. Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy, as well as ABC's executive director, Adam Hardy, and chairman of ABC's community leadership council, Tim Weyenberg, spoke at the event.
"The Packers Foundation and Packers organization are thrilled to support Achieve Brown County with this grant," Murphy said. "ABC is a tremendous organization focused on improving the wellbeing of the youth in Brown County from cradle to career. We are so proud to be a part of a group that will make a positive difference in our community for years to come."
Launched in 2014, Achieve Brown County is a multi-partner effort anchored by the Brown County United Way, the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and supported by the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation. Its 25-member Community Leadership Council is comprised of diverse stakeholders from across the Brown County.
"ABC brings together many different organizations, agencies and institutions, along with local businesses and governments, to provide a common framework for working together to improve the health, safety and education of Brown County's children," Hardy said. "This generous gift from the Packers Foundation allowed us to surpass our fundraising goal and come one step closer to our ultimate goal. It will not only make a measurable difference in the lives of our youth but a measurable difference in our community as a whole."
The Packers Foundation now has distributed more than $3.9 million for charitable purposes since it was established in 1986 by Judge Robert J. Parins, then-president of the Packers Corporation, "as a vehicle to assure continued contributions to charity." The Foundation awarded 189 grants in 2013 totaling $750,000.
The Green Bay Packers Foundation Trustees include Charlie Lieb (chairman), Tom Arndt, Valerie Daniels-Carter, Rick Chernick, Ricardo Diaz, Terry Fulwiler, Jerry Ganoni, Mark McMullen, Tom Olson and John Zakowski. Bobbi Jo Eisenreich is the secretary of the Foundation.
The grant, combined with other Green Bay Packers charity endeavors, contributes to a comprehensive Packers charity impact that was in excess of $6 million in the past year.
