You would cry too if it happened to you

When does the whining and crying stop?

I disagree with what Jamal said. Why would somebody write to a person's opinion page if they didn't want to hear your opinion? Aren't we writing to your page because you do know everything? You are just trying to help us to gain inside knowledge and, most importantly, perspective. Am I right?

You're right. I can't help it I know it all.

Vic, this morning you answered a question about being able to fair catch a kickoff. As a kid I remember hearing about a punt being fair caught and a free kick (field goal attempt) was awarded. Is my memory correct and is this situation still available?

It's called a fair catch kick. Upon execution of a fair catch, the team making the catch can attempt a field goal from the spot of the catch. The opposing team may line up no closer than 10 yards from the spot of the kick.

Vic, you have to want to tackle. Technique is nice, but right now the Packers have very few players that enjoy tackling. I don't think that can be changed.

You need guys with strong ribs. I don't have strong ribs, therefore, if I'm about to attempt to tackle Eddie Lacy in the open field, instead of spreading my arms and driving my weak ribs into his knees, I am likely to throw myself blindly at his midsection. Needless to say, I had judged the element of human confrontation and decided I had two options: 1) Lose and get hurt, or 2) lose and not get hurt. I chose lose and not get hurt. I made a business decision. Find guys with strong ribs.

I don t get you, Vic. Apparently, all you want Packers fans to write in about is roses, rainbows and cute little puppy dogs. The Packers have their worst defensive performance of the year and a fan writing in to express his opinion on that is whining and crying and feeling sorry for himself? What else would you expect when your column is directly targeting Packers fans?

I would expect that by day five we could've moved onto something else. I had answered questions about the defensive performance in New Orleans on in the first four days of the week. How long does the whining and crying continue? I decided it ended today. It's my column and I'll cry if I want to, cry if I want to, cry if I want to. You would cry too if it happened to you.

Vic, who is the best pure tackler you've ever covered?

Jack Ham. Great ribs.

Michael from Elizabethtown, KY

That's just what I wanted to see when I get on the Packers website, a picture of Drew Brees. That just ruined my lunch.

I have some extra roses, rainbows and cute little puppy dogs if you want them.

Vic, you don't need my defense of your opinions, but suffice to say that in my youth I was mighty surprised to learn the guy lined up in front of me did not necessarily want to stay blocked, or tackled to the ground like a sack of grain. It shocked me to realize those facts, but like you, I don't get what others don't get about human confrontation.

This is one of my all-time favorite stories. In the final year of L.C. Greenwood's career, he was replaced in the starting lineup at midseason by a young defensive end named John Goodman. At the end of the first quarter, Goodman was replaced by L.C. In the postgame press conference, we asked Chuck Noll why he took Goodman out of the game. This was Coach Noll's reply: "Because he was being blocked." Must've been a bad scheme.
