GREEN BAY – During a week in which Aaron Rodgers has a chance to set the Packers' franchise record for career passing touchdowns, the three-time MVP quarterback made even more history when he was voted to his 10th Pro Bowl on Wednesday.
Receiver Davante Adams was selected to his fifth consecutive Pro Bowl, while defensive lineman Kenny Clark was voted to his second Pro Bowl and his first as an original selection. Both Rodgers and Adams were named starters.
With this year's selection, Rodgers surpasses Pro Football Hall of Famers Brett Favre and Forrest Gregg for most in team history. It's also the first time in Rodgers' decorated career he's been voted to the Pro Bowl in four consecutive seasons (2009, 2011-12, 2014-16 and 2018-21).
Rodgers continues to make a compelling argument for his fourth NFL MVP award, as he currently leads the league in passer rating (110.4), INT percentage (0.91) and TD/INT ratio (7.50).
Rodgers garnered NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Wednesday after throwing three touchdown passes in Sunday's 31-30 win over Baltimore, which tied him with Favre for most regular-season TD passes (442) in team history.
The last 104 have come in the offense of third-year head coach Matt LaFleur.
"They're all my favorite," said LaFleur when asked Tuesday about his favorite Rodgers touchdown. "Hopefully he can throw 104 more over the next few weeks. It's been awesome to watch. He's a phenomenal quarterback obviously, makes some unbelievable plays and looking forward to the next one."
Meanwhile, Adams has been voted to his fifth straight Pro Bowl, bringing him within one of Pro Football Hall of Famer James Lofton's streak of six in a row from 1980-85 for most consecutive selections by a Packers receiver.
Adams' five career honors are tied with Sterling Sharpe for the second most by a receiver in team history and trail only Lofton (seven).
Adams recently notched his first back-to-back seasons with 1,000 receiving yards. He currently ranks third among all NFL receivers with 1,248 receiving yards, fourth with 96 catches and second with 10 receptions of 30-plus yards.
Over the 2020-21 campaigns, his five games with 10-plus catches, 100-plus receiving yards and multiple receiving TDs are the most in league history over a two-season span.
"When he crosses that white line, he's an animal," said receivers coach Jason Vrable last week. "Not everybody is made that way. Everything he does at all times is to get better. He's mad right now that other guys' stat lines are better than him. Everything to him is to press himself and be better than everybody who's ever played the game. He never comes down from that intensity. It's a special thing."
Clark was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list last week, causing him to miss Sunday's game in Baltimore. He still leads the Packers' defensive line with 42 tackles (23 solo) and six tackles for a loss.
Clark's four sacks are third on the team behind Preston Smith (seven) and Rashan Gary (6½).
"He's in a zone. Like he's dialed in. His preparation is dialed in," said defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery earlier this month. "It's a testament to the time he's put into it. He's always been the first guy in last guy out, before practice.
"I just feel like he's playing at a really high level right now, and hopefully he continues and the rest of the room continues to do the things they're doing."
Running back Aaron Jones was named a first alternate, while Gary, cornerback Rasul Douglas and punter Corey Bojorquez were also named alternates.
Jones, who made his first Pro Bowl appearance a year ago, has started all 13 games he has appeared in and has posted a team-high 657 rushing yards and a team-high four rushing TDs on 151 carries (4.4 avg.). He also ranks second on the team with 42 receptions for 340 yards (8.1 avg.) and six TDs.
His six receiving TDs are the most in a season by a Green Bay RB since Johnny "Blood" McNally had 11 in 1931.
