The annual search for the next honoree for the Packers FAN Hall of Fame is underway, and fans are reminded to nominate themselves, a loved one or a deserving fellow fan for the honor of being the 25th member of the Packers FAN Hall of Fame by this Friday, Dec. 16.

To help encourage nominations, Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy nominated his mother, 95-year-old Nancy "Nanu" Murphy and shared the essay with fans on packers.com. While Nancy is not eligible to be inducted, as she is a family member of a Packers employee, Murphy wanted to honor her for her dedication to the Packers and help remind other Packers fans to nominate the most passionate fan they know.

An excerpt of Murphy's ceremonial nomination reads:

"My mother, 95-year-old Nancy "Nanu" Murphy, is an amazing woman and a die-hard Packers fan. She has been an avid sports fan most of her life…but has taken her fandom to another level since I've been with the Packers. She has lived in Dunedin, Florida (Tampa area), since the early 1980s. When I started with the Packers in 2007, she had trouble getting the Packers games on television. She did some research and found that there was a Packers bar--The Varsity Club--not too far from her home. Soon, Nancy was watching all the Packers games at The Varsity Club. She has also made many great friends (most with Wisconsin roots) from watching the games together, including Packer Dave Tausend. Nanu and I talk after every game, and she usually has many astute comments about what went right or wrong in the game. During our search for a head coach in 2018, she called me and said that we should take a look at Matt LaFleur.…My father, Hugh, passed away in 2008 and unfortunately never made it to a game at Lambeau Field, but my mother has made up for it, as she usually makes it to two games each year at Lambeau Field."

Nominations should include an essay of 500 words or less, describing the merits of the nominee. Each nomination should be accompanied by a photo. The nomination period will remain open until Friday, Dec. 16. No nominations will be accepted after that date.

The 10 finalists who best represent the spirit of the Packers will be chosen in December by the Packers FAN Hall of Fame selection committee. The final round of voting will be from Jan. 1 through Jan. 31, 2023.

During the voting process, Packers fans will be asked to vote for one of the 10 finalists, whose stories will be profiled on packers.com. The winner will be selected by Packers fans and the Packers' selection committee.

The nominating and voting process will take place entirely online through the Packers website at www.packers.com/FHOF. Fans without internet access can mail their nomination essays, along with their contact information, to the Packers' Milwaukee office address: Green Bay Packers FAN Hall of Fame, 330 E. Kilbourn Avenue, Suite 1455, Milwaukee, WI 53202. For those mailing applications, a copy of the original photo should be submitted in case of damage or loss.

The first professional football team to have a hall of fame, the Packers enhanced that distinction in 1998 by establishing a Packers FAN Hall of Fame. It was founded for the purpose of annually honoring a devout and longtime Packers fan.

The honoree's selection will be announced in late February 2023. He or she will receive four club seats to a 2023 Packers home game; a $500 Packers Pro Shop gift certificate; a road trip for two to a 2023 Packers away game, including game tickets, air fare and hotel accommodations; and a one-year subscription to PackersNews.com. The honoree also will have his or her name added to the list of FAN Hall of Fame honorees recognized in the Packers Hall of Fame.
