Green Bay opens preseason in Pittsburgh

It will be the first preseason meeting between the Packers and Steelers since 2018

The Packers travel east to take on the Steelers in the first preseason contest.

  • It will mark the fourth time in the past five years that Green Bay starts the preseason on the road.
  • It will be the first preseason meeting between the Packers and Steelers since 2018, a 51-34 Green Bay win at home, and the first in Pittsburgh since 2015.
  • It is the first time Green Bay has opened the preseason at Pittsburgh since 2007.
  • It will be the 27th time the Packers have faced the Steelers in the preseason, the second most of any opponent (New York Giants, 30).
  • Familiar faces will be on the home sideline, as the Steelers are led by former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy and QB Aaron Rodgers, who both helped lead the Packers to the Super Bowl XLV championship.
  • Following the game at Pittburgh, Green Bay will hold public practices on Sunday, Aug. 16, and Tuesday, Aug. 18, before going to Denver to take on the Broncos on Friday, Aug. 21, at 8 p.m. CT.
  • The Packers finish off the open sessions of training camp with an open practice on Aug. 24 and then an open joint practice against Arizona (Aug. 26) before facing the Cardinals in the lone home preseason game, presented by Cenex, on Friday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. CT.
  • The game against the Cardinals is designated as the Packers Give Back Game, highlighting Wisconsin mental- health advocates with NAMI Wisconsin before and during the contest.

  • The top-notch broadcast team includes CBS's Kevin Harlan (play-by-play) alongside former Green Bay fullback John Kuhn (analyst) with Karley Marotta of WTMJ-TV serving as the sideline reporter. Marotta will also host an informative half-hour pregame show.
  • All Packers games can be heard on the Packers Radio Network, which is made up of 54 stations in Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, North Dakota and South Dakota.   • Is entering his 18th season in the NFL in 2026, having served as an offensive coordinator for two seasons (Los Angeles Rams, 2017; Tennessee Titans, 2018), a QBs coach for six seasons (Washington Redskins, 2010-13; Atlanta Falcons, 2015-16) and an offensive assistant for two seasons (Houston Texans, 2008-09).
  • In his first seven seasons leading the Packers, LaFleur has authored one of the finest starts to a head-coaching career in NFL history. Per the Elias Sports Bureau, his 76 regular-season wins are tied with Paul Brown for the second most in league history by a head coach in his first seven seasons in the NFL, trailing only George Seifert (86 in 1989-95). Green Bay's 76-40-1 (.654) regular-season record since 2019 ranks No. 1 in the NFC and No. 3 in the NFL over that span.
  • In his first three seasons in Green Bay (2019-21), became the first head coach in NFL history to post 13-plus wins in three straight years. His 39 victories over that span passed Seifert (38 in 1989-91) for the most wins by an NFL head coach in his first three seasons in the league and are also tied for the fourth most by a coach over any three-season span in league history (Mike Ditka, 40 from 1985-87; Andy Reid, 40 from 2020-22 and 2022-24).
