Vic, you may have noticed a lot of Packers fans are quite concerned about a possible rematch against Seattle. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best in order to win the Super Bowl. A Super Bowl victory is even more special when there's a lot of resistance. It would be tough, but not impossible. Shouldn't we be rooting for such a scenario?
Just get to the Super Bowl. If somebody else wants to do your dirty work for you, let them. A lot of teams out of the two hole have benefitted from the top seed being upset.

Vic, I know you don't care, but you've lost a reader. Since day one, I've read every "Ask Vic" column. It was something on packers.com, so I read it. I kept reading it because there is occasional Packers-related content. You sometimes offer good insight on what the players and coaches are saying, but your column has nothing to do with the Packers. This site should be 100 percent Packers. I await when that is true again. Thanks for the column, but maybe it's time you go.

Aaron Rodgers is the Packers' greatest strength. I believe he is also their greatest weakness. You need to find other ways to win. They have done that over the past two years. I'm looking forward to the next two games. I don't care or worry about the playoffs until all is set.
November of 2013 was a very bad month. Why? Because the greatest strength didn't play. I prefer the greatest strength play, instead of finding ways to win without the greatest strength.

No, there aren't. I gotta tell you, there's something about this game being on national television in Week 16 of the season that bothers me. It's not as though either one of these teams was expected to contend for the playoffs, and the schedule maker ain't dumb. What is this?

Vic, what does it mean when they say a receiver is a great route runner? If you know the route, what's difficult about executing it?
Knowing isn't the same as executing. Good route runners don't raise their head as they go into a break; to do that would tip the defender. Good route runners know how to vary their pace to set up their moves. They know how to look-off a defender and use body language to deke a defender. The ability to run routes is what separates Jerry Rice from nearly every other receiver that's played the game. Why do we take execution for granted? I just don't get this. Execution is what makes players great.

Can you tell us the story about Tony Dungy's development of the Tampa two?
Tony played for Bud Carson, who's the father of cover two. Tony took it to Tampa, dropped his linebackers deeper than normal and somebody called it Tampa two. Somebody once tried to give Tony credit for this innovation, and he quickly stopped them and gave all of the credit back to Bud. The real genius of the Tampa two is the name. It has a good ring to it.

You mentioned a while back that if you were looking to choose a franchise quarterback, you'd look at someone who fits the mold of the "New Age" QB. After seeing the struggles like what was mentioned yesterday, did you change your mind about looking for one?
No, I still think that's where the game is headed, it's just that we're looking at the first batch of them and future models are likely to be more refined.
