GREEN BAY – When the Commanders pulled within one score early in the fourth quarter Thursday night, the Packers needed to answer.
They most certainly did, so the nine-play, 65-yard touchdown drive that restored Green Bay's 14-point lead is the Chevy Drive of the Week from the 27-18 victory.
From the Packers' own 35-yard line, leading 17-10, the possession started with an 11-yard completion on an out route to WR Dontayvion Wicks. A defensive holding call on Washington then put the ball just across midfield.
Two plays later came a crucial third-and-6, and TE Tucker Kraft fought off illegal contact from a defender for an 8-yard completion as QB Jordan Love bought time outside the pocket.
That turned out to be the only third down on the drive, as the Packers then got tricky with their run game to keep the Commanders on their heels.
A direct snap to rookie WR Savion Williams led to his 16-yard run around the left edge, and it would've been more had he not slipped. Then an end around to fellow rookie WR Matthew Golden the other direction added nine yards.
After RB Josh Jacobs made it first-and-goal with a 2-yard run – Jacobs carried three times for eight yards on the drive – Love ran a play-action fake and found Kraft wide open on the right side of the end zone.
The 24-10 lead was eventually stretched to 27-10 in the convincing win.
