GREEN BAY – Against the Lions, the Packers' offense needed to answer a Detroit score on multiple occasions.
Green Bay came through every time in the 31-24 victory, most importantly in the back half of the third quarter after the Lions needed just five plays to go 71 yards, getting back within three points at 24-21.
The Packers responded by using nine plays to go 72 yards, only facing third down once, in restoring their 10-point lead with just a little over one quarter to play. So that's the Chevy Drive of the Week.
It started with a 3-yard run by RB Josh Jacobs, and then WR Bo Melton took an end-around 14 yards for a first down at the Green Bay 45.
QB Jordan Love took a shot on the next play, stepping up in the pocket and finding WR Dontayvion Wicks down the seam for a 30-yard gain. Runs of 6 yards by Jacobs and 4 yards by RB Emanuel Wilson picked up another first down in the red zone, at the Detroit 15.
Back-to-back completions to WR Romeo Doubs appeared to move the chains again, but on the second catch, Doubs fumbled. Fortunately, teammate Rasheed Walker recovered at the 6-yard line, setting up third-and-1.
Love threw incomplete, but a facemask penalty on Lions LB Jack Campbell made it first-and-goal on the 3. After a 2-yard run by Jacobs, Love hit Wicks by the front left pylon for the score and a 31-21 advantage.
It was Wicks' second TD of the game and the first two-TD game of his three-year career.
