GREEN BAY – Selecting the Chevy Drive of the Week doesn't get much more obvious than this.
Taking over at their own 35 in a tie game with eight minutes left, the Packers needed just eight plays to score the go-ahead touchdown in Sunday's 28-21 victory over the Bears. RB Josh Jacobs was the workhorse, touching the ball on six of the eight snaps, accounting for 42 yards.
The drive started with two big plays. Jacobs busted off an 11-yard run, and then QB Jordan Love hit WR Jayden Reed for 18 yards to the Chicago 36-yard line. Two snaps, 29 yards, and the Packers were in scoring territory.
From there, Jacobs ran for 2 yards and then caught a swing pass for 6 more, setting up third-and-2. Jacobs took a pitch to the right, stuck his foot in the ground to power through multiple Bears defenders for the first down, and somehow slipped through into the open field. He wound up with a 21-yard gain to make it first-and-goal on the 7.
RB Emanuel Wilson gave Jacobs a quick breather and ran for 3 yards, unfortunately losing his footing as he tried to cut back or he might've scored. On second-and-goal, the Bears jumped offside, moving the ball half the distance to the goal and putting it on the 2.
Jacobs got stuffed on his next run, but Love called his number again on third-and-goal, checking from a pass play to a shotgun handoff because he didn't like the defensive look to throw. Jacobs took on the initial contact and then barreled his way into the end zone backward for the 2-yard score and the lead, his 12th rushing touchdown on the year.
