The Green Bay Packers have promoted Kenny Ansel to director of information technology, Paul Baniel, the team's vice president of finance and administration, announced today.

Ansel, who has 29 years of information technology experience, most recently served as the team's assistant director of information technology, and has been with the Packers organization since 2007, when he was hired as a network security engineer.

In his new role, he will be responsible for technology and systems across all areas of the organization, facilitating the employment of technology in a variety of business areas. Ansel will oversee information security strategy and the development of training programs, and will work closely with each department to design and implement technology solutions.

"We're pleased to promote Kenny to director of information technology for the Packers," said Baniel. "He has done great work for the organization since his arrival in 2007, including working closely with each department to develop technology solutions and heading up a variety of stadium technology projects. We look forward to having Kenny lead our IT initiatives as technology continues to become a bigger part of our lives each year."

Prior to his time with the Packers, Ansel worked for Synercomm Inc. in Green Bay, Sytex Inc. on Fort McCoy, Wis., and Cray Research/SGI in Chippewa Falls, Wis. He also spent time working as an adjunct professor at Western Wisconsin Technical College in La Crosse, Wis., where he developed and instructed a course for the IT Network Systems Administration program.

Ansel is also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served from 1989 to 1993 as a secure communications engineer at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

Ansel, a native of Green Bay, earned his degree from DeVry University in 1996. His family includes his wife, Nichole, and their three children, Blayd, Kiana and Zander.
