Biography

Pro Highlights:

  • Posted 44½ sacks in seven seasons with the N.Y. Jets, good for No. 6 in franchise history.
  • One of only four defensive linemen in team history to register two seasons with 10-plus sacks (John Abraham and Mark Gastineau, three each; Shaun Ellis, two). 
  • Played in 105 games with 101 starts in seven seasons with the Jets, recording 498 tackles (324 solo), 44½ sacks, two interceptions, 26 passes defensed, 10 forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
  • Started 12 of 13 games played in 2017, recording 59 tackles (35 solo), 3½ sacks, nine QB hits, an interception and four passes defensed. 
  • Played in 15 games with 14 starts in 2016, recording 65-plus tackles (67, No. 6 on the team) for the fifth consecutive season. Also registered 4½ sacks and 10 QB hits (No. 5 on the team).
  • Named second-team All-Pro by The Associated Press and was selected to his first Pro Bowl in 2015 as he finished the year with a team-high 12 sacks, tied for the sixth most in the league and second most among 3-4 defensive linemen. Sack total was the most in a season by a Jets player since Ellis produced 12½ in 2003. 
  • Was a part of the No. 5-ranked rushing defense and No. 6-ranked overall defense in the NFL in 2014, starting all 13 games he played in and recording six sacks, 66 tackles (47 solo), four passes defensed and a forced fumble.
  • In 2013, was voted the Curtis Martin Team MVP by his teammates and was selected second-team All-Pro by AP after starting all 16 games and leading the team with 10½ sacks and setting a career high in tackles (91).
  • Appeared in all 16 games with 15 starts in 2012, recording 90 tackles (53 solo), two forced fumbles, six passes defensed, a fumble recovery, a touch­down, five sacks and a blocked field goal.
  • Started all 16 games as a rookie in 2011 and led all Jets defensive linemen in sacks, as his three were the most by a Jets rookie since Ellis and John Abraham registered 8½ and 4½, re­spectively, in 2000.
