Biography
The Green Bay Packers have signed P Pat O'Donnell on Friday, March 18, 2022.
O'Donnell, a 6-foot-4, 220 pound ninth-year player out of Miami (Fla.), was originally selected by the Chicago Bears in the sixth round (No. 191) of the 2014 NFL Draft. In eight seasons with Chicago (2014-2021), he played in 128 regular-season games, punting 564 times for a 45.1 gross average and a 39.3 net average, which ranks first in Bears history. Last season he appeared in all 17 games, punting 62 times for 2,865 yards (46.2 gross avg, 38.5 net avg.), with 19 punts downed inside the 20.
In 2019, O'Donnell set the Bears single-season net average record (40.7) topping the previous mark by Adam Podlesh in 2011 (40.4). In 2017, he punted 87 times for 4,087 yards with a 47.0 gross avg., all career-highs. O'Donnell played collegiately at Cincinnati (2009-12) and Miami (2013), where he appeared in a total of 54 games, punting 234 times for 10,168 yards (43.5 gross avg.) with 78 punts downed inside the 20-yard line. In 2013, he set Miami's single-season record for gross punting average at 47.1. O'Donnell will wear No. 16 for the Packers.
